FOXGRAVE - listen
From the small town dystopia of Mid-Michigan comes Foxgrave. Featuring clever guitar interplay characteristic of sophisticated indie rock, Foxgrave is also unafraid of big, loud pentatonic guitar solos à la Dinosaur Jr. The drums and bass are tight and booming, providing a solid landscape for textural melodies. Foxgrave takes the accessible elements of modern pop punk (Title Fight, The Wonder Years) and boils them back down to the influences of primordial ‘90s emo groups like Jawbreaker and Pinkerton-era Weezer.

EMURSE - listen
Born and raised in the city of Chicago, Scott Kehres is the mind behind Emurse. Having studied jazz guitar for over a decade, as well as being a pianist, bassist and percussionist, Kehres strives to maintain and push the boundaries of the melodic side of electronic music. While also being a strong visual designer and audio engineer, Kehres writes, mixes, masters and designs the album artwork for each release; ultimately being a one-man show for the Emurse project. The Emurse sound is a blend of epic orchestral scoring, lofi Neo-soul grooves and ambient melodic sound design fuzed with electronic elements of glitch break beats and heavy hitting synth atmospheres.

JEFF SCHALLER & THE LONG WAY HOME

Sun. Nov. 10 - 8:00 pm - 21+ -
FREE SHOW!
JEFF SCHALLER & THE LONG WAY HOME - listen
Jeff Schaller is a Chicago based singer, songwriter, composer, teacher, and classical musician. His band, Jeff Schaller and the Long Way Home (formerly Movies About Animals) takes musical inspiration from a wide range of sources both literary and musical. Like most Midwestern kids, Schaller grew up listening to all the emo and punk bands coming out of the area and beyond as well as all of the alternative rock on the airwaves in the early 90's, but one of his earliest and most prevalent influences that shines through in his songwriting is Bruce Springsteen. The band released their debut album "Two Decades and Change" in 2017 under the former name and quickly moved further away from the early Wonder Years-esque, pop-punk inspired songs of their early catalogue. The name change came as a natural result of this shift in sound, which is often compared to the likes of The Menzingers, Springsteen, Gin Blossoms, Gaslight Anthem, The Killers, The Get Up Kids and any other punk-adjacent rock and roll band around. The music still holds the raw energy of their early days, but with a more honest and heartfelt approach to craft. It has been described as "effective, genuine, and catchy simplicity." Schaller's love for classical music can be heard in the large arrangements of instruments on any given track and in the smallest amount of compostionally informed detail. The newest single "Younger Years" was released in early 2019. Jeff Schaller and the Long Way Home are currently writing and recording for their next release due sometime in the Summer of 2019.
JAKE SIMMONS & THE LITTLE GHOSTS - listen
Jake Simmons, one of two songwriting talents behind the excellent (but now defunct) Dead Scene Radio, is back. With a hand picked supporting cast and unapologetic swagger, Jake is taking his blend of punk, rock, country, pop and folk out of a southwest Michigan garage and onto your turntable. With the Little Ghosts (essentially a complete motown-era rhythm machine) in lockstep, Jake's live show swings wildly from soulful acoustic ballads, to catchy doo-wop, to cascading sheets of caterwauling feedback. Always brash, always honest, usually with a middle fucking finger to convention, Jake is a true archetypical midwestern singer-songwriter who laces up his steel-toed work boots each day without a hint of irony.
ALL THE WINE - listen
Hailing from the musty basements of Chicago's peripherals, All the Wine pours out electrifying rock 'n' roll and melodic punk. Reminiscent of punk and emo favorites such as Against Me!, The Hotelier and The Menzingers, All the Wine is both tenderly evocative and unforgivably hard-hitting. The trio has over four regional tours under their belt, as well as two EPs that introduce listeners to the band’s aggressive yet reflective nature.
