COUSIN BONES

Wed. May. 22 - 8:00 pm - 21+ - BUY TICKETS HERE!
COUSIN BONES - mp3
Cousin Bones mixes lyrical song writing with primordial moaning blues. Originally a Slam Poet, Cousin Bones has dedicated himself to writing songs about the working class, love, addiction, travel, loneliness, and the nature of God.
HEY COMANCHE - mp3
Hey Comanche! blends the scuzz of garage rock with country twang and other influences. We enjoy many of the fruits of the popular music tree and thus you will find them in our efforts. We have nothing to do with the legendary horse-mounted warriors of the Great Plains other than our cultural appropriation of their name. We mean absolutely no harm or disrespect to the empire of the summer moon.
HOBBYIST
Hobbyist is Marc Mozga and Holly Prindle. Hobbyist formed in January 2013. Hobbyist was formerly I Luv Luv Birds. ILLB (2004- 2012) home recorded and self- released four albums including "I Know Why The Caged Bird Gun Slings" ('05) and "Cleaning Lady Uprising" ('10) in between working jobs for money. We needed a new name because of the new songs. The new songs are more indicative of the reclusion and outsider mentality that a name like "hobbyist" evokes. Mozga plays drum machines, guitars, bass, melodica and Prindle sings.

SHAVED WOMEN

Thu. May. 23 - 6:00 pm - All ages - BUY TICKETS HERE!
SHAVED WOMEN - mp3
Shaved Women (from St. Louis) are a band that deserves a lot more attention. They're dense, angry, noisy, fast, weird and totally unique. No description I've tried to make does them justice.
MANIPULATION - mp3
Manipulation are Chicago based hardcore rippers who boast members of Chronic Seizure, Pedestrians, and Civic Progress to name a few. The sound is possibly a bit like that of early Japanese bands like Bastard and Gauze or contemporaries Obliteration.
WARRIOR TRIBES - mp3
New Chicago three-piece hardcore punk band, formed January 2012. Influences include Wipers, Wire, and reverb.
TENSIONS
As all serendipitous events go, we meet, we greet, and play a little off beat.

THE SKY WE SCRAPE

Fri. May. 24 - 7:00 pm - All ages - BUY TICKETS HERE!
mPshows.com and Red Scare presents!
Admission includes a split 7" by The Reaganomics and Carousel Kings!

THE SKY WE SCRAPE - mp3
This Chicago outfit, The Sky We Scrape, plays a hybrid style of hardcore and heavy punk rock. The band’s raw emotion is offset by interesting song structures and instrumentation. TSWS display inventive songwriting and pay real attention to the soundscapes they create, pounding out 3 minute heavy novellas on the concrete walls of blue collar Chicago.
THE REAGANOMICS (members of Ryans Hope)
The 3 members of Ryans Hope put their heads together and wrote 20 stripped down pop punk songs in the summer of 2009. Everyone shares lead vocals, everyone writes about whatever they want, whether it's a song about Buckcherry, or making fun of indecisive scenesters, anything goes. Eddie was recruited to drum so Greg could get his hands on the singer/guitarist position. The emphasis is having a good time, and taking nothing seriously. Sloppy punk rock from 4 sloppy dudes.
CAROUSEL KINGS
With undeniable pop hooks and a penchent for pizza, CAROUSEL KINGS debut, A Slice of Heaven, is as infectious of a of a neo-pop punk album as one is ever likely to find. The Lancaster, PA quintet have been turning heads for some time and have delivered a hook-laden album that aims to cement their place as a force to be reckoned with.
ELWAY (Acoustic)
Elway is an American punk rock band from Fort Collins, Colorado. Their sound is a unique and inebriated take on a time-tested formula: aggressive punk rock with soaring melodies coupled with lyrics ranging from that of the sad sap to the indignant atheist with a bevy of homespun dick jokes.

SIDERUNNERS

Fri. May. 24 - 10:30 pm - 21+ - BUY TICKETS HERE!
SIDERUNNERS (ex TOSSERS, VINDICTIVES, PRUNO) - mp3
The Siderunners play ass kickin' alt.country with grit, style, and heart. Veterans of the Chicago punk music scene (ex-members of The Vindictives, The Tossers, and Pruno), these musicians seamlessly cross genres and sound as if they've been playing country their whole lives.
THE BLIND STAGGERS - mp3
The Blind Staggers play the kind music that rattles around your brain at 4am after a long, lonely night at the bar. In other words: THEY PLAY A MIXTURE OF COUNTRY AND PUNK ROCK. (Zing. Bet you wonder how we got all up in your head, SUCKA? It was easy. We are exactly like you in every way.)

BARBER GREENE

Sat. May. 25 - 8:00 pm - 18+ - BUY TICKETS HERE!
BARBER GREENE - mp3
The music of Barber Greene is photographic. Originally from the rural DeKalb, IL—where he helped form Light Pollution (Carpark)—the Chicago transplant’s songs are vulnerable and personal. Left untreated, they wouldn’t sound out of place next to early Sufjan Stevens, but the quiet, contemplative songs quickly become massive and triumphant once filled with his imaginative arrangements, the way a memory imbues new meaning on the faded faces of old photographs. Like exhuming dusty shoeboxes of developed disposable cameras, listening to Barber Greene allows us to linger, to daydream about the things you’ve had, the things you want, the things you will never attain.
ON AGAIN OFF AGAIN - mp3
On Again Off Again is an Indie-Folk trio from Chicago with lots of class. These dashingly clad men will leave a catchy tune in your head while you dance your worries away. With a sound similar to Iron and Wine, Elliott Smith, and Weezer, On Again Off Again is guaranteed to brighten your spirit and relax your soul.
EVERYTHING'S ALRIGHT
SUNJACKET - mp3
Sunjacket is a new band from Chicago, IL made up of Garret Bodette, Carl Hauck, Bryan Kveton, Tricia Scully, AND Ross Tasch.

LAUREN MANN & THE FAIRLY ODD FOLK

Sun. May. 26 - 5:00 pm - All ages - BUY TICKETS HERE!
LAUREN MANN & THE FAIRLY ODD FOLK
In a world where the gift of simply appreciating music seems to have been lost, it takes something extraordinary to capture the heart and the attention of listeners. Lauren Mann and the Fairly Odd Folk do just that. From captivating folk-pop melodies to an authentic and energetic performance, you’ll get drawn in to the music and won’t be letting go anytime soon.
VALASKA
Valaska is pure honesty and grass rooted to its core. A raw talent that brings out a true, poetic justice on stage and in studio.
VANESSA ANTONINO
Vanessa Antonino is a singer-songwriter based in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs. She'll play any instrument she can get her hands on and she'll make up a song on the fly if you don't stop her. Her newest toys include a looper pedal, voice effects (including auto tune), and a whole slew of guitar effects. Along with solo shows, she can be seen with Skirt Steak, Chicago's premiere all-lady cover band.

BUTCHERSHOP QUARTET

Sun. May. 26 - 10:00 pm - 21+ - BUY TICKETS HERE!
BUTCHERSHOP QUARTET
In 1998 The Butchershop Quartet began striving to produce a faithful adaptation of Igor Stravinsky’s classic symphonic, “The Rite of Spring”. Though this subject has been fleetingly addressed by a number of different bands throughout rock history, The Butchershop Quartet is the first band that has made a serious attempt to successfully reduce the full orchestral score to fit the instrumentation of the classic rock quartet (two guitars, bass and drum kit) while retaining as much of the compositional integrity as possible. A recording was made at Electrical Audio Recording in Chicago, Illinois in 2001 and 2002.
CRUCIFAGIUM
We know from Roman and Greek authors that the act of breaking of the legs of the crucified was done to shorten the miseries of the condemned to die on the cross. The practice bore the technical name of skelokopia, "to break the legs"; in Latin crurifragium or CRUCIFAGIUM. The CRUCIFAGIUM consisted of some strokes to the legs with a heavy club or mallet, which always materially hastened the death of the sufferer, and often caused it immediately. CRUCIFAGIUM is also a musical endeavor of Greg Ratajczak (of industrial metal duo Plague Bringer, part time collaborator in Winters in Osaka, and former guitarist/songwriter of the 'doomgaze' ensemble Anatomy of Habit).
MATTHEW HALE CLARK (of White/Light)
Matthew Hale Clark (American, b. 1775) is a Chicago-based guitar player and artist, unknown for his work as 1/2 of the psychedelic drone duo White/Light (on Steve Shelley’s Smells Like Records). Clark has performed on Oprah, in Le Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain, and behind the Big Horse Taqueria (R.I.P.), while under contract to Capitol Records and Astralwerks Records and/or under handshake to Honk If You're A Moose Records (R.I.P.). Clark's recent music activities include an improv-heavy set of Nina Simone covers with Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth, a month-long sound installation and performance residency at the Museum of “Contemporary” Art Chicago, an afternoon-long performance residency playing Rolling Stones (R.I.P.) songs solo for a conference room full of tax lawyers, and a wayfaring appearance on lap steel guitar with space punks Disappears at Lollapalooza. Clark’s music is at the forefront, and in the background, of the one-man “Cosmic American Primitive” movement. He is the youngest son of influential rust belt folk-blues ukulelist Weezy Newhard Clark and a brother to all.

BELLOWS
You know Odd Future? We're not like them. We play rock and roll. But not the kind your parents listened to, you wont find us on vinyl just quite yet. Bellows was formed last year, in attempt to combine Deerhunter style guitar with drumming similar to Deerhoof. We like deer. We're all versed in jazz to some degree, but our music isn't jazz. You'll like us anyway. We are Bellows.

THE OARSMAN

Tue. May. 28 - 8:00 pm - 21+ - BUY TICKETS HERE!
THE OARSMAN
The Oarsman is a band from the Mid Western United States of America. We believe in God, true love, and the merits of suffering. Thank you for listening.
RANDI RUSSO - mp3
There is a toughness and tenderness in Randi’s songwriting and performances that has led to comparisons to fellow New Yorkers Lou Reed and Patti Smith. Her songs deliver emotionally stirring melodies, as her "honest, provocative lyrics" (The Big Takeover) cut deep. Her music ignites a fiery sound that can flare up into intense explosions of emotion or simmer with a calm fury. Cynicism meets optimism in her "dark, brooding outsider anthems, [with] brilliant lyrics, casually graceful charisma and a voice like bloodstained velvet." (Lucid Culture)
LINDA DRAPER
Linda Draper’s earliest musical influence was her father, a virtuosic classical guitarist who studied with Andres Segovia. In her youth, Linda discovered her own musical voice singing in the church choir, which led to her playing guitar and writing songs just a few years later. Linda’s first public performances took place in local venues around town, including the Renaissance Faire in upstate New York. For the past decade, Draper has managed to carve out a sound that is both timeless and unique. Her musical journey has led her to tour the US, the UK and Paris, performing in countless music festivals along the way such as the Athens Popfest (Athens, GA), The Campfire Festival (Cambridge, MA), the Antifolk Festival and the CMJ Music Marathon (New York City).

CAINS AND ABELS

Wed. May. 29 - 8:00 pm - 21+ - BUY TICKETS HERE!
CAINS AND ABELS - mp3
The point of Cains&Abels is to tell one specific story. The story is called "The Reluctant Trucker" for now. "The Reluctant Trucker" is a mixture of autobiographical details and the kind of day-dream you have when you have a crush on someone and you want them to notice you so you think of some horrible thing that would make them feel sorry for you, like your parents dying. The story is translated to music by the band, approximately at the rate of one song to one chapter. The songs are always played in a specific order.
DASTARDLY
Dastardly is an Americana group from Chicago in its infancy, taking the songwriting mentality of George Jones and Hank Williams Sr. while also taking influences from modern indie bands such as Grizzly Bear and the Dirty Projectors. Humorous, confessional, literate, whiskey soaked lyrics mesh perfectly with the natural sound evoked with banjo, accordion, pedal steel and lush vocal harmonies.
TEENAGE RAGE - mp3
This Chicago group create a blend of luscious indie folk. Close your eyes and let it ride.
MATTHEW SHELTON - mp3
Matthew Shelton writes and plays songs for mbira and guitar. He has led ensembles The Cat Lovers and MS's Picnic. Late in 2012, he toured France and Germany with cellist Nora Barton. This summer, his work with quartet Me or the Moon will be released on vinyl. His songs are full of victory, defeat, dissappointment and good-humoured desparation.

I SHIT YOU NOT

Thu. May. 30 - 8:00 pm - 18+ - BUY TICKETS HERE!
I SHIT YOU NOT
Come enjoy a gut-clenching evening of storytelling not for the faint of fart, featuring the worst (and best) pant's-poopin' tales by comedians and storytellers Mike Lebovitz, Dana Norris, CJ Sullivan, Claudia Wallace, Ian Abramson and Ali Clayton. Hosted by Monte LaMonte & Michael Sanchez.

THE NESMINS

Thu. May. 30 - 10:00 pm - 21+ -
FRIENDS OF CESAR ROMERO - mp3
With the shake of a tambourine and a quake of the pelvis, the pop-art garage-punks known as Friends Of Cesar Romero have crash-landed. FOCR have devolved the electric-guitar beat-combo into a thing of pants-shitting Neanderthal beauty. Pounding, menacing, snarling, and unaccustomed to flowery futuristic bullshit, the gang’s anthemic onslaught is ready to biff-bang-pow its way into your heart.
THE NESMINS - mp3
The Nesmins straddle the lines of old school punk and that kind of short-lived when-metal-met-punk-and-developed-a-childish-sense-of-humor thing (loudlooppress.com). They like it loud, fast, and uncomfortable.

ERIN EDMISTER & 3 TONS

Fri. May. 31 - 9:00 pm - 21+ - BUY TICKETS HERE!
ERIN EDMISTER & 3 TONS - mp3
"I grew up on a farm outside St. Louisville, Ohio. At 22, I rode out with a beat up van and $200, bound for Chicago. I met Kilian Sweeney there. In the winter of 2009, we formed 3 Tons with Dan Smykowski and Ivan Stankowicz. We built a muscled sound with country roots and the hard drive of the city. There is no irony here. Just, straight ahead songs from a transplanted country boy."-Erin Edmister
HORSE KING
Date on the calendar but the band dissolved before the show rolled around. Remnants of Horse Operas and Parlor King joined forces with some Furious Frank to honor the commitment as Horse King. Intended as a one-off show, people liked it and asked us to play again. Then again. And yet again. It feels good to be wanted. The project exists now as its own creature. "Beaten down but never without hope, they become the voice of those on the cusp of criminality." -Bluesbunny
LONESOME STILL
We brought some of our favorite Chicago musicians, from various musical genres, together to bring a new vibe and a new standard to the Chicago country music scene! We'll be bringing mostly originals, and a few covers, from many different country directions including classic, alt-country and country-rock...don't be left out, this is seriously good music!
CHICAGO DRUM BATTERY
The Chicago Drum Battery is (currently) a ten-piece percussion ensemble that plays samba and such.

LIGHT COMA

Sat. Jun. 01 - 9:00 pm - 21+ - BUY TICKETS HERE!
LIGHT COMA
Light Coma is a rock band from Chicago, IL. They're not charting new territory. The songs come together despite the lack of musicianship shown by the members of the band. The songs will sneak up on you. Don't write them off. They're better than you think. They will make you have feelings.
MY CANADIAN GIRLFRIEND
My Canadian Girlfriend is a three-piece rock band from Logan Square, Chicago. The music is perfectly loud at times—subversively quiet at others—always purposefully decorated. MCG's blend of ’70s rock, ’80s pop, and ’90s alternative and indie creates a familiar but unplaceable sound. It's accurately described as smart, deceivingly complex, identifiably “Chicago” rock with a bitter-sweet, almost sardonic, vocal approach that sets it apart from the rest of the venerable scene.
BROWN WIG

MARTIN

Wed. Jun. 05 - 6:00 pm - All ages - BUY TICKETS HERE!
MARTIN (ex Spraynard) - mp3
Martin is a musical group that was founded in 1958. The group's line-up consists of brothers Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb. The trio were successful for most of their decades of recording music, but they had two distinct periods of exceptional success: as a pop act in the late 1960s/early 1970s, and as prominent performers of the disco music era in the late 1970s. The group sang three-part tight harmonies that were instantly recognisable; Robin's clear vibrato lead was a hallmark of their earlier hits, while Barry's R&B falsetto became their signature sound during the late 1970s and 1980s. The brothers wrote all of their own hits, as well as writing and producing several major hits for other artists.
HORACE GRANT (ex members of The Ovens) - mp3
LB drums, vox. GIB guitar, bass, vox. Chicago duo to look out for in 2032.
SHARPLESS
In 1991, Jack Greenleaf was born. He grew up in Brooklyn, and eventually found his way to Chicago in fall of 2010. In February of 2011, as Jack Greenleaf was turning 20, he released the album Sharpless (+<). Within two months, an entire band had formed, as Jack turned to his friends in Chicago to create the group Sharpless. Sharpless is Jack Greenleaf, Daniel Ott, Aaron Sheehan, Montana Levy, Ian Cory and Dave Collis.

DOGJAW - mp3
Best friends since forever. Ask about us at work!
SEA LINES - mp3
Spawned in the sands of Long Beach, Sea Lines formed one ominously hot day in the summer of 2011 as the sun shone bright through the curtains in Sam's basement casting an illumination upon a forlorn and forgotten reverb tank.
THE RESERVE
Rock and Roll 4-piece band The Reserve formed in 2011 after first coming together as friends who occasionally played music together. The band is comprised of Jon Babin (vocalist and guitarist), Jon Birchfield (guitarist) and Kyle Biba (drummer). Hailing from other Chicago-based bands, such as My Big Beautiful, Internal Divine, and the Babin Brothers, the members of The Reserve are ready for bigger and better things. “When we play together it all comes together naturally. It’s kind of like a Zen moment. It just clicks,” said drummer Kyle Biba. Indeed the fusion of the four sounds as good as it feels to the members.

Thu. Jun. 06 - 10:00 pm - 21+ - BUY TICKETS HERE!
WILLIAM FEIGNS - mp3
William Feigns is a songster, absurdist writer, interviewer, & photographer from Berkeley, CA. William's wide variety of songs & styles are a result of a life long music obsession fueled by being a record store junky making a dreamy kaleidoscopic style of music.
FLOWERS OF EVIL
The Flowers Of Evil was originally started in 2009 as a recording project by Kaleb Hunter and Steve Henderson. For the last two years they have filled up hundreds of hours of tapes with songs, songs, and more songs. The Flowers play a distinct type of music, heavily influenced from protopunk and garage bands like The Velvet Underground and The 13th Floor Elevators to Hank Williams, Sun Ra, John Coltrane etc. They have a distinct ear for sounds from a forgotten and esoteric past, but keep both eyes steadfastly on the future with their music and songwriting. Not liking labels and pigeonholing, they simpley describe it as a very primal, punk in spirit, head music.
MAREN CELEST - mp3
With poetic frankness, Maren Celest delivers tough grit with haunting softness - alternating between a demure sire and an explosive, no-nonsense hellion. Maren's voice yelps and soars over a meandering landscape of music, picked out in strange chords & guided by sensitive, savage dynamic. Comparisons range anywhere from CocoRosie to Joanna Newsom to PJ Harvey.

Fri. Jun. 07 - 9:00 pm - 21+ - BUY TICKETS HERE!
PROPERTY OF SAINTS - mp3
The origin of Property Of Saints goes all the way back to the winter of 2008, during the blisteringly cold Chicago winter. The two bandmates met in a cacophany of classrooms and classy hats. Now they record rapturous music in their shared living space, aka their apartment.
STILL MACHINE
Firm in their convictions, Still Machine draw on influences from Low, Joy Division, early Killing Joke and the like to spin a moody web of harmonic counterpoint and poly-rhythm intense enough to raise hairs, yet bewitching enough to sway. In keeping with Chicago's unspoken rules of incestuous musical projects, this unlikely post punk/ indie rock conglomeration comes correct from the hands of vocalist/guitarist Ray Dybzinski (orig. Timeout Drawer, Sounding Spirals), bassist Jason Goldberg (orig. Timeout Drawer, Beak, Svlphvrvs), drummer Mike Rataj (arbogast, Cask), and pedal steel marvel Thomas McGettrick (The Harrow, Mar Caribe).
13 MONSTERS - mp3
13-Monsters is Jamie (music) and Sabrina (vocals). A 2 person indie DIY band from the Chicago area that's been liken to a cross between A Mazzy Star song and a Ministry barrage. Jamie's style of music is quiet lows and roof blowing riffs with live drums and mixed beats. Sabrina's style compliments Jamie's wall of noise by maintaining an air of angelic baroque vocals. For live shows a drummer is added to the mix for increased punch and presence on stage.

LOVERS - mp3
Lovers (celebrated lyricist Berk, synth-programmer and performance artist Kerby Ferris, and sequencer and percussionist Emily Kingan) craft an intimate portrait of female friendship, sexuality, and evolution as an infinite process. The three first encountered in 2002 after Berk’s near-fatal van explosion while on tour with an earlier incarnation of the band. Emily Kingan, then on tour with classic Portland feminist hardcore band The Haggard, invited Berk to join the bill. Ferris was their roadie. Years later, Kingan organized a meeting for her two friends and future band-mates in South America, where Berk was travelling and Ferris was living at the time, performing in various experimental electronic projects in Săo Paulo’s thriving music scene. The result was sisterly love at second site, and prophetic premonitions of the creative collaborations to come.

CARBON TIGERS
In the summer of 2009 Carbon Tigers began to receive recognition by playing shows around the downtown Chicago area, including Subterranean, Metro, Beat Kitchen, Schuba's and several shows on campus at Columbia College. In April of 2010 they were awarded with the title "Chicago Winner of the 2010 College Battle Of The Bands presented by AT&T" and later won 1st place at Columbia College's Biggest Mouth Competition in 2011. Carbon Tigers has opened for international and touring acts such as Biffy Clyro, The Cool Kids, Maritime, Moving Mountains, Kilimanjaro, Explode Into Colors, and many more. They are currently playing shows in the Midwest area to promote their self released debut EP, The Burrows, and the first of their home recorded series, The Dover Sessions, Vol. I: What I Say & What I Mean.
HYDRA MELODY
Lots has happened in the Hydra Melody camp in the last year and, for certain, things aren’t slowing down any time soon. The band toured extensively this year, performing for huge crowds on the East and West Coasts and everywhere in between.
