BASS LINE BUMS
Sat. Sep. 04 - 8:00 pm - 21+ -
BASS LINE BUMS - mp3
One Summer day, Joseph found Marc laying in a gutter in Mexico, covered in his own vomit and sperm. They quickly struck up a friendship over a sponge bath. Once Marc was strong again, they set sail, jumping into the pacific ocean and swimming up to Alaska, to meet Josh, an angry Eskimo, who spent his days bitching about how cold he was. Joseph and Marc asked Josh to join forces. Josh agreed with an angry grunt and picked up Marc in his arms and put Joseph in his pouch and turbo ran down back to Austin, Texas, where he heard the weather was hot as hell and the queso flowed like water. They struck fists and formed the super saiyan group known as the Bass Line Bums.
TRACER BULLET - mp3
Taking the sounds of soul, rockabilly, doo-wop, and rock n roll, and bathing them in the cleansing waters of the punk rock they grew up playing, Tracer Bullet has created a sound entirely their own. Musically they are on top of their game, melding outstanding guitar work with an incredibly soulful rhythm section.
ON THE ATTACK
On The Attack brings a wall of sound with them in using three guitars to provide harmonic, complimentary lead guitars with solid rhythm guitars that compliment the rest of the rhythm section’s heavy bass riffs and hard-hitting drums. This provides a rich versatile sound and vast opportunities for expansion. The inclusion of the occasional acoustic guitar, mandolin, and/or harmonica also provides many opportunities to provide a unique and versatile sound.

TEAM BAND - mp3
"This swaggering group of exuberant, self-proclaimed superstars delivers some raucous rock 'n' roll. The upbeat tunes should make it a true challenge for even jaded listeners to stand still through their live set." - Chicago Tribune

BLOOD FEATHERS
Tue. Sep. 07 - 7:00 pm - All ages -
BLOOD FEATHERS - mp3
Ben Dickey and Drew Mills formed Blood Feathers in 2005 to perpetuate America's most important export, Rock n' Roll music. Sailing the same tradewinds that brought rhythm to the New World and shipped gospel, blues, and jazz back as a thank you note, Dickey and Mills write songs that snug into the grooves of your grandmother's 78s as easily as they download into the mystery of your IPod.
LAURA STEVENSON AND THE CANS
With infectious melodies accompanied by intricate guitar, crumbling distortion, trumpets, and violins - this minimalist and “sweetly cacophonous” Brooklyn outfit will make you smile or crush your soul depending on your current level of sadness.
TRANSMONTANE - mp3
Transmontane is a moniker, a name that proceeds from oblivion. Also it is a landscape, sparse and desolate but at the same time rich, beautiful. The music is minimalist americana with a dash of elegance. Short bursts of song disappear at the point of crescendo. Like a bird, or an echo. Hello!

KHANN
Wed. Sep. 08 - 8:00 pm - 21+ -
KHANN - mp3
"Khann from Orlando have a new record on the way via Black Market Activities, and the band had some serious riffs to back their spazzy ebullition-style screamo. Vocalist Ben zigged-and-zagged around the basement, spazzing out and landing smack on the floor quite a few times when he wasn't barreling his way through the crowd. Tons of intensity from these guys." - Brooklyn Vegan
WASTED FORTUNE - mp3
We are loud and heavy. Come see us at a show. People like to stand and watch us with their arms crossed. Expect a full cd soon(not real soon, but... soon). est. 2005

TV BUDDHAS - mp3
TV BUDDHAS are a threeway powerhouse from Tel Aviv, Israel, comprising of brothers Uri and Mickey Triest and Juval Haring. Their raw, intense, completely involving live show in addition to their somewhat geeky and shy demeanor, brings together the simplicity of The Ramones, the explosiveness of The MC5 and the anti-rock'n'roll subject matter of The Modern Lovers.

THE AMAZING LARRIES
Fri. Sep. 10 - 8:00 pm - 21+ -
THE AMAZING LARRIES (ex members of Lunkhead and Pistolero)
The Amazing Larries is a band twenty years in the making. While still teenagers, MX and PF started their first band together, LUNKHEAD, and spent the better part of the next decade playing, recording, touring and much of the time living together. Meanwhile, their friend JP was fronting skapunks NOSTRILSAURUS, sharing the same shows, parties, floorspace, punkhouses, etc. After LUNKHEAD ended, MX went on to form skatepunks, THE DAGGERS, while PF and JP spent several years in PISTOLERO before they disbanded and JP went on to THE DUTCHMEN, while PF headed to punk rock retirement. Our friend, T Garry, who we'd first met on a LUNKHEAD tour in El Paso, Texas, had left his noise rock band PETROLEUM JESUS, and uprooted himself to Illinois. And with the end of both THE DUTCHMEN, and THE DAGGERS' runs, the stars aligned over us finally and we were all able to be in a band together. Pete was pulled out of retirement after an intial personnel change, and, boom-THE AMAZING LARRIES! Sometimes it takes a long time to come full circle...
TALKY TINA - mp3
LYNYRDS INNARDS - mp3
"Most underrated pop-punk-rock band in Chicago" - Brian A. Peterson.
SORE SUBJECTS
Sore Subjects are hominid cryptid beings said to inhabit the Midwestern United States, although sightings outside this region are particularly common. They are named for the unpleasant attitude that is said to accompany them. According to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) the Sore Subjects exist only as a local myth. Reports of creatures similar to the Sore Subjects were particularly common in the late 1970s and mid to late 1990s. In the fall of 2009, numerous sightings were reported in the urban neighborhoods of Chicago, Illinois of large, foul-smelling, ape-like creatures, which ran upright on two legs, carrying low quality musical instruments and bottles of beer.

LET ME RUN
Sat. Sep. 11 - 8:00 pm - 21+ -
LET ME RUN (from NJ on XOXO Records) - mp3
A hard-working-hard-rocking band who keep it simple. Drawing influences from bands such as Hot Water Music and Jawbreaker, Let Me Run has a lot on their plate but show no signs of backing down. With a love for rock and roll, this group offers a fresh sound to anxious listeners. Chances are you'll be seeing these boys for yourself sooner or later. Party invincible.
RUST BELT LIGHTS
RUST BELT LIGHTS formed in early 2009 shortly after the breakup and hiatus of some bigger name bands in the hardcore and punk scene Dead Hearts and Daggermouth.
X IS FOR EYES - mp3
A unique combination of influences derived from two opposite sides of the punk rock spectrum, Bob and Mike mix two specific styles to write personal songs about the trials and tribulations of getting older. With duel vocals ranging from sweet, melodic harmonies, to raspy, whiskey drenched singing, the distinct styles of Mike and Bob make an exciting contrast during live shows and on recordings. X is for eyes has seen its fair share of line up changes over the years, but still continue to plug out their minute thirty hate anthems, such as their back to back opening tracks on the latest album "24 Minute Revenge Therapy," "Thats why you always leave a note" and "I sure hope you enjoyed yourself." After a one year hiatus, X Is For Eyes is bringing back the same old punk rock you've grown to love in Chicago.

GESTAPO KHAZI
Tue. Sep. 14 - 8:00 pm - 21+ -
GESTAPO KHAZI
So-Cal thugs Gestapo Khazi play a dark, reverb laden, on that L.A. beach-punk sound. Think TSOL mixed with the Gun Club: sparse and moody with snaking tendrils of psycho-surf guitar slicing the tension into bursts of sonic fury.
POPULATION (members of No Slogan, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang,& Ultratumbados)
Raw dark dance like early Sisters of Mercy. A nod to Spain's Paralisis Permanente as well. DIY punks having fun outside of hardcore's limitations.
PINK TORPEDO
Pink Torpedo is a sleazy, abrasive garage/psych group with ex-members of Canadian Rife, Bier Slut, and Catburglars.
FLAKE LIKE
Blazing hardcore with a distinct disdain for humanity and all its failings. No Joke.

THE NEUTRON BOMBS

THE NEUTRON BOMBS (mbrs of Methadones/Battalion of Saints) - mp3
The Neutron Bombs are a new Chicago punk band. They are not going to change the world. They might not even change their underwear. You probably won't want to stand too close to the stage.
RED DENIZEN - mp3
"What do you want to do with your life?" Red Denizen replies, "WE WANNA ROCK!!!!!"
THE GAZE
STIFF BINDLES
Stiff Bindles are grungy, pop punk from Florida. For fans of Nirvana, Jawbreaker, and Deseparacidos.
RATGUTS
Drunks fucking dead rats.

GYPSYHAWK
Fri. Sep. 17 - 8:00 pm - 21+ -
GYPSYHAWK
Combining the sound of Thin Lizzy, Hawkwind, and Lynyrd Skynyrd with - somehow - just a few average dudes out there to return music to the people that appreciate it, Gypsyhawk is a band's band, a fan's band...and a god damn rock band when rock and roll needs it most. In a time when music is shoveled down your throat, Gypsyhawk backs up the walk (and mabye a little swagger) with rock. The band's first show in their hometown of Pasadena, Calif. yielded an enthusiastic and devoted crowd, showing the promise Gypsyhawk holds in the palm of their hands...well, as soon as this next solo is done. Then they'll have a free hand.... Turn down the lights and turn up the tunes indeed.
JEHOVAH MUSTACHE - mp3
Rockin' Rock from Chicago.
KILLER MOON - mp3
Killer Moon is fundamentally, a progressive metal band, but the Chicago based trio are otherwise difficult to categorize: elements of acid rock from the late 60’s early 70’s, stoner sludge, and some good old fashioned Black Sabbath doom can be heard in their music. They weave a complex fabric of sound that takes ones attention without the need for a voice.

THE PLEASE & THANK YOUS

THE PLEASE & THANK YOUS - mp3
No one likes us, I don't know why. We may not be perfect, but heaven knows we try. And all around us even our old friends put us down, let's drop the big one and see what happens.
MIXTAPES - mp3
"The band plays music that will draw you in, reminding you of that first time you heard one of those songs like the Replacements' "I Will Dare" -- a song that hits you in the gut, making your jaw drop." - pitchmusic blog

LIONLIMB
Sat. Sep. 18 - 10:00 pm - 21+ -
Record release party for Lionlimb's new Lacerations 7"
LIONLIMB - mp3
After a couples years of working on and off, Lionlimb has finished its first record. It was recorded and mixed in a nondescript warehouse space buried among the industrial playgrounds of Tennessee. Every choice made was a conscience attempt to try and use the room we were working in to shape the record and to not be afraid of any spontanious or unexpected sounds that surfaced: trains, a nearby race track, echoes, and other various clanking.
OL' BOY - mp3
"We just wanna make ya move, while breakin' ya heart."
CHANNEL FOUR - mp3
CHANNEL FOUR is big guitars, vocal harmonies and uptempo riffs. They’ve been called everything from indie to power pop to garage rock.Come decide for yourself. At this show they will be celebrating the release of their new EP, "Paid Programming."

DESCENDER
Sun. Sep. 19 - 8:00 pm - 21+ -
DESCENDER - mp3
Taking their name from an obscure typographic term, Descender is a Brooklyn-based band made up of four graphic designers. Drawing on influences ranging from early '90s indie and punk rock to hardcore and new progressive metal, Descender effortlessly fuses together a sound that defies easy classification. Often sidestepping traditional verse/chorus conventions, their songs are short and to the point, but also richly textured. Try to imagine a hint of Sonic Youth's wall of guitars, Snapcase's brutal breakdowns and Fugazi's anthemic energy mixed with Slayer's unrelenting metal riffs and you'll have a reference point for Descender.
BOOTS WITH SPURS - mp3
Boots With Spurs do not need to rely on bizarre storytelling and imaginative plot devices to sell their music. You give this one listen, and you start to feel like a pathetic fly caught between the jaws of a Venus Fly Trap, caught helplessly in a rapid current of influences and guitar solos. The sound is like a drunken barfight between The Mars Volta, These Arms Are Snakes and Hella, all thrown into some kind of turbo blender that just will not stop for anything.
ARCADIA HERO
Arcadia Hero is female fronted five piece punk rock band from the Chicagoland area. Imagine if a bunch of mythological heroes Heracles, Theseus, Perseus, and Odysseus asked Xena Warrior Princess to join their band, then you get Arcadia Hero. Besides our singer is named after a Japanese city. Yours isn't.

THE INDEPENDENTS
Tue. Sep. 21 - 8:00 pm - 21+ -
THE INDEPENDENTS - mp3
When people think of "horror-punk", usually the Misfits come to mind. When the genre of "horror-ska" comes to mind (I can't believe there is a genre called "horror-ska"), people tend to think of Leftover Crack or Mephiskapheles. Basically, the Independents are a mixture of the two styles, and while their image may be ridiculous, their music is brilliant.
SQUARED OFF - mp3
Squared Off, a 3 piece street punk band hailing from the west side of Chicago, is making some noise. At a time when people believe that the underground punk scene has died, these guys bring out some of punk's forgotten ideals. Brotherhood, pride, voice to fight for your rights, and the words of the working class. Squared Off 's music gives you the sense of kinship with the understanding of the struggles of society today.
HORROR IS DEAD
Three piece horror rock from Chicago. Check us out if it's your deal. No candy coated bullshit here.

BIRDS OF AVALON
Fri. Sep. 24 - 8:00 pm - 21+ -
BIRDS OF AVALON (ex Cherry Valence) - mp3
Raleigh NC’s BIRDS OF AVALON was formed after newly-wed guitarists, Paul Siler and Cheetie Kumar, split from The Cherry Valence to join forces with vocalist, Craig Tilley, and avid 4-tracker, David Mueller. They later enlisted their favorite Chapel Hill drummer and mural artist, Scott Nurkin and quickly made a name for themselves with relentless touring. They are no strangers to the sense of unsettlement that accompanies that constant traveler and explores this concept of confusion with Uncanny Valley, by layering psychedelic dissonance atop lyrical themes of fugitives in the computer age, underground-dwelling children replaced by doppelgangers, and sensations of unreality.
THE MEDIUMS (ex Peelers) - mp3
On "Real Cool Trash" Mediums' front man Jason Walters sings about the "strange sounds in the back of [his] mind" as his bandmates work to bring them to three-dimensional life. The local quartet makes a glorious racket, blending "Nuggets"-era garage rock, psychedelia and dingy blues in its wonderfully lo-fi recordings. But this isn't some brainless punk romp; the group lists Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Sigmund Freud among its influences and quotes John Steinbeck in blog postings. As a result, its songs frequently cut deep. Witness "Broken Heart Disease" where Walters warbles, "All I wanted was a chance to be free," before letting loose a broken, primal howl. Andy Downing --- The Chicago Tribune 6/19/09
BRETT SOVA

THE BROKEDOWNS
Sat. Sep. 25 - 8:00 pm - 21+ -
THE BROKEDOWNS - mp3
Four dudes who spend way to much time together arguing about which movie is better: The Air Up There or Commando. Once that is settled we are breaking up. Sounds like E.L.O meets B.T.O but with less T.C.B'n.
BUST! - mp3

THE SPEND
Matt Shaw has been writing and playing music for many years now, most recently with the Illinois band Hinter. The Spend was created out of Shaw's desire for a project that he could direct completely, in terms of songwriting, production, design, output, and schedule. It is an intimate project, full of the hands-on joys of DIY production methods -- handmade packaging, bedroom recording -- as well as personal, descriptive lyrics, the songs full of imagery pulled everywhere from clearly defined dreamscapes to everyday life, over instrumentation characterized by strong, often looping melodies, empty spaces, powerful vocals, and warm, dark sounds.
Mon. Sep. 27 - 8:00 pm - 21+ -
HOLYOKE (formerly Where Astronauts Go To Hide)
Holyoke is the current expression of songs by Joshua Pederson. His songs, written in a traditional folk-roots style, have been accompanied by musicians, most recently the entirety of Duluth, Minnesota based trash metal band Corporate Thunder. Attending a Holyoke show will undoubtedly leave one with the bitter chill of a mid-western winter, as Pederson's wide vocal range and ability to belt out a good, throaty yelp occasionally will give the listener Goosebumps.
MILKTOOTH
Milktooth's songs are romantic and inquisitive, crafted with so much of the heart that's too often missing from Nashville's hit factories.
Thu. Sep. 30 - 8:00 pm - 21+ -
SECRET COLOURS - mp3
Spawning thoughts from the minds of good and evil possessed the Secret Colours to form in 2009. An odd but intriguing year, Tommy's polluted imagination was able to make its way into the minds of his close friends. It blossomed into a full ensemble with the help of fellow musicians. Tommy Evans(rhythm guitar/vocals), Dave Stach(lead guitar), Dylan Olson(Bass) and Justin Frederick (drums/percussion) are the beating pulse who's intentions are anything but pure. Who's intent is to strap you down and force feed a blend of psychedelia and driving rock n' roll into your blood stream.

COMMUNITY COLLEGE - mp3
A community college is a type of educational institution for kids only semi-interested in a semi-educational experience. Or they come from families that can't afford a big fancy college. The term can have different meanings in different countries like half-college, high school with cigarettes and hats, or fake college.
Fri. Oct. 01 - 8:00 pm - 21+ -
CLOUD NOTHINGS - mp3
Straight out of Cleveland, OH. This band brings a fresh garage rock sound. If you like bands like the Smith Westerns you should check them out. They were starting to get heavy rotation on WOXY before its unfortunate closure. I recommend "Can't Stay Awake" as a starting point.
Mon. Oct. 04 - 8:00 pm - 21+ -

HAIRSPRAY BLUES

UNEARTHLY TRANCE - mp3
Hypnotism through riffs and sound waves, tuned strings, dark winding drones, unsettling upredictability, tone manipulation, time elastication, earhating amplification, words from the outer and inner summoned through chants, howls + (of course) the blues.
SUMA - mp3
The behemoth has a name: It is Suma. In its cockpit four guys from Sweden, whose mission is to fuse Sunn O)))’s apocalyptic apotheosis of string instruments with inhumanly heavy drumming. The doom-Weltmacht invoked hereby can only be described halfway decently by gibberish about space monsters and the end of mankind. Besides the paradigmatic references to O’Malleys holy order, Suma give you lots of classic heavy doom-groove and Eyehategod-style crust-feeling; in the calmer parts even Earth-like clarity can be found. All that comes in an enthrallingly mad style the Electric Wizard himself could not do better. So clothe yourself in rags, go on a pilgrimage into the desert and form sects to pay homage to the interstellar manta. For Suma’s day is near!
HARPOON - mp3
Harpoon is from Chicago and features members of 7000 Dying Rats, Lair of the Minotaur, Gun Kata, and Crazy Stallion. They have a full-length, self-released CD available recorded by Sanford Parker (Minsk) and mastered by Scott Hull (Pig Destroyer). Their latest full-length "Double Gnarly / Triple Suicide" CD/LP on Interloper Records (Pelican, Tusk) was recorded by Andy Nelson (Weekend Nachos) and, once again, mastered by the master...Scott Hull. They also have a split 7" with noise/drone/metal duo, Locrian, out now on Hewhocorrupts, Inc.

Join the festivities with The Riot Before! Get it?
THE RIOT BEFORE - mp3
The Riot Before is not flashy, it is not fashion, it is not forced, it is not fake. It is simple chords, simply played, with the purpose of giving a home to lyrics written with purity, precision, and passion. It is, at the foundation of everything, sincere -- intensely sincere. These songs exist because they must. Not because there was a demand for them -- there was little -- but because they were too restless to remain locked in the bedroom they were created in. Because they can only find consummation out in the open, in the ears of others. Because they came about as a result of inspiration from art, emotion, and life, and because the writer of these songs cannot be content until he has given away some of that inspiration; which is sacred and, unfortunately, so elusive in our current world. The purpose of these songs is, at the very least, to entertain, and at the very best, to inspire. Thank you for listening.
Wed. Oct. 13 - 8:00 pm - 21+ -
DOUG BURR - mp3
A singer and songwriter of uncommon resonance, Doug Burr was born in 1972 in Dallas, TX, growing up in a Southern Baptist family, the spiritual residue of which has been a lifelong influence on his musical endeavors. Burr took up the guitar at age 16, and by 18 he was writing songs. After a dozen or so years of home recording, open mikes, church performances, and coffeehouse gigs in the Dallas-Fort Worth region, he began fronting the roots rock band the Lonelies. In 2003 he independently released “The Sickle & the Sheaves,” an ambitious and atmospheric gospel concept album produced by Deadman’s Steven Collins that worked around the themes of birth, death, and renewal and brought him a good deal of critical attention. The equally impressive “On Promenade” appeared in 2007 from Spune/Velvet Blue Music.
MONAHANS - mp3
Austin-based band Monahans, named for a region of desolate West Texas sand hills, balances thundering rhythms and atmospheric "landscape rock" with urgent pop anthems and spiritual campfire balladry. What began in 2006 as an offshoot of their previous project (Milton Mapes) has morphed into a unified force of multi-instrumentalists and recording engineers that includes Ramble Creek Studio producer Britton Beisenherz, drummer Roberto Sanchez, vocalist and chief songwriter Greg Vanderpool, and former Spoon bassist Joshua Zarbo.
MERYLL
Mellow indie rock - a mix of Yo La Tengo, old Jimmy Eat World, and Joan of Arc.
